Maruti Pawar, a daily-wage worker living with his wife and daughter on the footpath under the Kemps Corner Bridge, struggled for survival during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. When public movement was restricted and hospitals overwhelmed, Maruti met with a life-changing accident, he was hit by a speeding scooter while crossing the road for a free meal. The driver fled, leaving him severely injured.

Mr. Manoj Surendra Paswan, a 37-year-old domestic worker earning ₹11,000 per month, supported his wife, young child, and blind mother. On 13 November 2023, he suddenly collapsed at the entrance of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital after vomiting blood. Recognizing the urgency, Sr. Sarla, Head of the Hospital, immediately arranged ICU admission, ensuring treatment began without delay or financial barriers.

Mr. Amit Bastiao Fulya, 43, arrived at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with chest heaviness, dizziness, and high blood pressure. With no history of chronic illness, doctors Dr. Rohan Sequeira (General Medicine) and Dr. Gita Dore (Psychiatry) identified that his physical symptoms were driven largely by severe emotional stress.
