Tulsi Trust Technical Institute
Tulsi Trust supports programs of skill training and livelihood development which include short-term, vocational training and diploma courses at Tulsi Technical Institute to help the student get better employment.
Part of the Vivekananda Education Society, Chembur, Mumbai, Tulsi Trust provided its construction cost. This is a government recognized college providing two-year diploma courses in banking and insurance, marketing and sales, catering, hospitality, radio repairing, electric wiring, motor winding, television repair services, etc. It provides support for upgradation of laboratories and imparting two-day workshops (training) to facilitate employment.
To encourage students, Tulsi Technical Institute rewards the first three students who excel in their studies. Also, lectures are organized by outside teachers to help the students in various subjects as well as train them on making their biodata appropriately. Etiquette classes are also conducted. Client Service Excellence is the practice of consistently exceeding customer expectations in service delivery. It is achieved by providing a high level of customer engagement that leads to trust and advocacy.
Sunshine Trust
Well supported by Tulsi Trust, it was established in 1994 for the Sindhi community, and is the oldest NGO to help the Sindhi community develop a higher standard of living (especially the poorer sections). Sunshine Trust works in 14 cities in India. It serves those who seek to be self-sufficient by donating handicrafts, sewing machines and other allied equipment. Sunshsine Trust helped reduce the number of those living in poverty. On January 11, 1994, a meeting was held at the Oberoi Hotel in Bombay, India. Present were Dr. Ramchand Bulchand, Mr. J.M. Chanrai, Dr. Prakash Mirchandani, Mr. B.H. Melwani, and Mr. G.V. Melvani. At the meeting it was agreed that Mr. G. V. Melvani would look after applications and correspondence, and Dr. Mirchandani, on behalf of Mr. Chanrai, would look after the accounts. At the end of 1995, Mr. Melvani resigned due to health reasons and was replaced by Mr. Lekhraj Pohoomal.
Stree Mandal
Established in 1903 and supported by Tulsi Trust, this is the oldest NGO for women and girls in Mumbai. Since the last 100-plus years, the Mandal is consistently progressing in the field of women and child welfare. It provides various courses like stitching, embroidery, knitting, adult education, dancing, home science, naturopathy. Stree Mandal also provides support by distributing food grains, spices, clothes and conducts medical check-ups regularly.
Medical assistance is now provided with a physiotherapy department. About 4500 patients are treated per month.
Tulsi Trust also donates walkers, wheel-chairs and a free ration kit is provided to 220 women every month. Tulsi Trust supports education for girls in schools and colleges.
